editions.

Editions can be a bit of a tricky thing to get your head around, as it seems there are no hard and fast rules and every artist has a different way of doing them.

My understanding is that editions evolved as a way to track both the quantity and quality of an artwork, because reproductions were produced using physical artefacts that would degrade with use. This resulted in better quality reproductions at the start of an edition and limited the number of prints that could ever be produced. This created value through scarcity and made earlier editions of an artwork more desirable.

My interpretation of the spirit of editioning is to limit each digital original to a set number of reproductions and once they sell out that's it – forever! Maintaining this discipline ensures the value of your investment and is an obligation I am unequivocally committed to. However, I happily take advantage of the flexibility afforded by digital originals to produce different dimensions and crops within the edition.

Limited Editions

Limited Editions are available in a range of larger format sizes. Prints are supplied with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and prints with borders are embossed in the bottom right corner with my artist chop.

Due to the finite nature of Limited Edition prints, they may have a tendency to increase in value.

/10 Limited Editions

As an /10 Limited Edition is depleted, the price for the remaining prints will increase. I do this because it makes the first images in the edition more accessible and also as a little thank you to the folk who dive straight in.

Due to the finite nature of /10 Limited Edition prints and my pricing structure, prints may have a tendency to increase in value.

Timed Editions

Timed Editions are available for purchase for a limited time. The number of the edition is set by the number of prints sold during that time – you could end up with an edition of 7 or 137! Timed Edition prints are available in a range of smaller format sizes. They are supplied with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.

Due to the finite nature of Timed Edition prints, they may have a tendency to increase in value.

Artist Proofs

Artist Proofs of a Limited or Timed Edition – numbered AP – may be produced from time to time, but are limited in number to 10% – rounded up to the next whole number – of the edition. They are not available for sale, but may be gifted to friends and family or donated to charity.

Open Editions

Open Edition prints are produced to the same high standard as Limited Edition and Timed Edition prints. They are available in smaller format sizes that suit off the shelf frames. They are not signed or numbered and can be reproduced indefinitely.

Due to the potentially unlimited supply of these prints, open editions are unlikely to increase in value.
